image facelift FaceliftWe can wear clothing every day to hide our own perceived body imperfections. But our face is always visible to ourselves and others throughout the day. Over time, visible signs of age can appear as a result of stress, genetics, sun exposure, tobacco, alcohol, lack of sleep, poor diet or environmental factors. Loose skin, deep folds, or wrinkles and a sagging jaw or neckline all can be improved with facelift surgery. As one of the cornerstones of facial enhancement at the Alessi Institute in Beverly Hills, a facelift re-drapes and tightens the skin of the face and neck to soften the effects of aging, wipe years away and give our patients a more refreshed look. The procedure not only provides a younger-looking appearance, but also can provide a boost to your self-image; helping you feel more confident on the inside, as well.

At the Alessi Institute, we are leaders in using surgical and non-surgical facial enhancements to help our patients look and feel younger.

Candidates for a Facelift in Beverly Hills
Our patients consider a facelift to improve the visible signs of aging such as:

  • Loose, sagging skin of the lower face including jaw line or cheeks
  • A hollow look or loss of facial volume in areas of the cheeks over time
  • Loose skin, folds and fat deposits around the neck
  • Deep creases between the nose and mouth

The best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still maintains some elasticity. Most of our patients are in their forties to sixties, but Dr. Alessi has also successfully performed facelifts for people well into their seventies. It is important, however, that all patients are in good physical health overall prior to undergoing a facelift.

Surgery Overview
Dr. Alessi and the team at the Alessi Institute for Facial Plastic Surgery are continually refining their facelift techniques in light of newer innovations and the introduction of technological advancements. Each face lift procedure at our Beverly Hills practice is carefully developed and planned based on the individual patient’s desires.

Some people are hesitant to consider facelift surgery because they have seen or heard about results where a patient’s face appears too tightly stretched, looking “windblown”. These extreme and unnatural-looking results are due to a surgeon being too aggressive in compensating for the effects of aging on the skin, and are not a necessary result of facelift surgery. In fact, one of the primary reasons patients choose the Alessi Institute is for the beautiful results our surgeons are able to achieve. Using the Total Anatomy Technique, careful manipulations and tightening of the underlying, deeper facial tissues allows the surgeon to create the most natural-looking end result.

The scars fade to near-invisible over time. Due to the intricate nature of the procedure and the multiple layers of skin and tissue that must be trimmed and tightened, facelift surgery generally takes several hours to perform.

Dr. Alessi may ask you to keep your head elevated and as still as possible for several days following surgery to help keep swelling down. Like most patients, you will have swelling bruising, discoloration of the skin and dryness. Swelling should subside within two weeks. Bandages are usually removed in three to five days, and most of the stitches will be removed after five to ten days. It is normal to also have some numbness and tender areas of skin temporarily. Patients are instructed to keep the incision sites clean to prevent infection and minimize scarring.

Healing continues over the months and weeks following surgery. You’ll start to notice positive changes in your appearance almost immediately, and many patients are ready to return to work and other activities within two weeks. After you’ve healed completely, you can expect to see tighter skin on your lower face, a more defined neck and jaw line, along with smoother, more youthful-looking facial features.

Related Procedures
Our patients combine many other types of facial plastic surgery and non-surgical enhancements to refresh and rejuvenate their appearance. Neck lift surgery is often performed in conjunction with a facelift, particularly for men and women with loose, sagging skin below their chin. A brow lift or  eyelid surgery may also be a good option for those who want to improve the appearance of both their upper and lower face.

Non Surgical:
To maintain a their youthful look after surgery, many of our patients come back for periodic injectable treatments with BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® or RADIESSE®, or  LASER treatments for skin rejuvenation.
